With this project, I am requesting a listening center items and cleaning supplies to help my low income students and families be successful in 2nd grade. Students will benefit quite a bit from being able to listen to books. Listening to books helps students with fluency and decoding and will increase knowledge of the world around them. Student who struggle in reading will improve and even enjoy reading by experience books on CD or tape. This listening center will also help ELL(English Language Learners) improve and experience books that their peers are reading. It will also increase their understanding of grade level books and improve comprehension when reading. The students will also be following along in the book while listening. Your support of this project will help to foster a love for reading as well as encourage the use of many basic reading skills.
