My students need to get general background information on the Titanic so the the science and engineering behind the sinking of it is more meaningful. I have a few old copies of this book, but not enough for every student to be engaged with it. Ballard's book is the first hook students have and he does a great job of getting students interested in the Titanic though this book. After students use the books they will become experts in sequencing the events that led up to the sinking of the Titanic. Students will then look at other texts on the topic to support what they have all read. Finally, they will partake in their own boat challenge.
