Students will be able to interact with new apps, games and websites with these new iPad's. This will help enhance their reading and math skills and allow them to apply their whole group learning in class into 1:1 time with the ipads. They will be able to listen to books on CD through picture books and follow along with personal CD players. They will get exposure to thousands of new online readers and books, both fiction and non fiction on the iPads. An example of a lesson we would use the iPads for would be introducing a new phonics skill as a class. Then as a follow up students would play a game independently to see how they applied the knowledge of the new phonics skill. Finally, I could assess their level of understanding and confidence by having the students record themselves reading a passage or digital story on the iPad and be able to go back and listen to their oral reading fluency. This is the perfect way for kids to get excited about their learning and make it fun at the same time! Kids love technology and having it at their fingertips will be so motivating for them! Kids try new apps and games at school and are excited to go home and tell their parents about what they are learning at school and try it at home.
