I want to create a classroom where students are able to succeed and OWN THEIR educational experience. In order to do that the classroom needs to be a place where students are able to access information, collaborate with the teacher/peers, and feel comfortable in their space. The tablets, ball seating, and standing seating will become separate stations for students which will help differentiate their learning and encourage them to become more engaged. The tablets will be used for a technology center where students can research topics and get used to analyzing different sources. The table and ball seating will be used for small group instruction where I can sit with the students and work with them on skills. Finally, the standing desks will be used to make a collaboration station where students can work with a group. Students with difficulty paying attention will benefit from alternative seating and all students will benefit from standing and movement. It will also increase the ability to differentiate instruction for everyone. It is the hope that if students are more engaged in purpose driven projects they will be more prepared for college and careers in the future.
