Hilfe! Aiuto! Adiuva! Ajuda! ¡Ayuda! Help! German, Italian, Latin, Portuguese, Spanish, or English, it does not matter what language you say it in, my students need your help! They are asking for computer mice, mouse pads, headphones, and scientific calculators so they can complete their online learning a little more easily. Our students are here for a variety of reasons: disciplinary issues, difficulty performing in a large classroom setting, or needing to catch up on class credits in order to graduate on time with their peers. Whatever the reasons may be, we are here to help them see their potential and find their purpose and motivation in life to succeed. We strive everyday to help ensure these students feel important, loved and successful. A major focus while here is for students to stay motivated to complete their work in a timely manner and not become frustrated. When they are having to use the touch pads on the laptops they are struggling to drag and drop their answers for the online program we are using. The difficulty with doing this portion of the program causes so many of the students to get aggravated and stop working for periods of time. The mice and mouse pads would help to eliminate this issue. Students are self-paced and self-taught. The headphones are necessary so the online program can read the course information to them. For some of the students they are struggling readers to begin with then we give them 11th or 12th grade reading assignments to read on their own, they shut down. I try my best to help each of them daily, however there are roughly thirty of them on a given day and only one of me! The calculators will help with their math work.
