For Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students, access to educational instruction is already complicated by a hearing loss. Add to that the added noise of chair squeaking, sliding, scraping, clanging, banging and scuffing up the floor and instruction just became that much more challenging. The scuffling of chairs can be extremely distracting in the classroom, specifically for my population. By quieting the chairs with these pads, students have one less distraction to drown out in the efforts of accessing their education. These chair pads would enable our school to outfit two entire dedicated classrooms with quiet seating. The old method of using tennis balls was dangerous to the teachers who were trying to cut the balls, resulting in injuries.
