We are currently working with mismatched tables that have been pulled from other places over the years. We have one table with paper under one leg to balance it and keep crayons from rolling off. Two tables are laminate and over the years, cleaning with art chemicals, the laminate has started to bubble and peel causing students to have a strange texture when they color. Since this class is used daily by students age 5-12 seating has also been an issue. The chairs we currently have are dated and accommodate older students causing the younger ones to sit on their feet to reach the tables which is unsafe. I hope that by adding the stools younger children will be able to sit and place their feet on the bar at the bottom of the stool while older ones can sit comfortably with their feet on the ground. Some of our current tables are narrow while others are larger and many of our projects require plenty of space for supplies. I believe that by giving these students a more comfortable and cohesive environment we will further empower them to explore their creative genius.
