In order to be successful in this world, you need to be literate. If you can read, you can do just about anything! Over the years, I have purchased many novels for my classroom because research states the important role the size of a classroom library plays in developing and improving literacy. The problem is that my students struggle to read grade level content. I have resorted to audiobooks as a way to help them improve their reading, garner a love for reading, and find the joy in reading. Listening to audiobooks has made reading stories come alive for my students. They fall in love with the characters and the plot. Often times, they beg me not to turn it off and to just keep it going. This, of course, makes my teacher heart very happy. If I had sets of audiobooks, the students would be able to check them out to take them home, and in turn, they would read more books independently and not have school be the only place of reading.
