First grade is about learning how to be a student, the basics of reading, writing and math and at the same time they are learning how to communicate their feelings, make friends and are looking for a place to feel good about themselves. Teaching first grade is a challenge and a delight. Watching my students grow such enormous amounts emotionally, mentally and physically in just ten months is extraordinary. My goal is to help them feel safe and comfortable while challenging them to be the best people they can be. I want them to know they are independent, responsible and caring individuals that make a difference.

About my class
