As a teacher, I strive to provide my students with a welcoming and comfortable classroom environment, lending students a sense of safety and security that is conducive to learning. My students, in particular, crave a sense of safety, structure, and stability. I believe that the addition of a bright and cozy carpet will help accomplish this, by helping our classroom feel more like a home. In First Grade, much of our time in the classroom is spent on the floor, learning as a whole-group, engaging in discussions, reading books, and much more! The carpet we are requesting will allow for a much more comfortable and relaxed learning experience when engaging in these activities. The teaching easel will allow all students a clear view of the books, charts, sentence strips, and other resources we will use to help them access the curriculum throughout the school year. The materials this project will provide will help me create a more positive, structured learning environment within my classroom. These materials will greatly benefit my students by increasing their focus and engagement in the whole-group setting.
