I teach 5th and 6th grade Science in the Mississippi Delta. There are many students here that struggle with daily life and come to school with little in the way of supplies. Please take this opportunity to read about our project. Students are curious and want to learn. I would love to give them a hands on activity with each lesson, but that is very expensive and some students are missing basic items. The idea that there is a way for me to reach students and help them see that learning can be more for them than just coming to school is fantastic. They can learn about how the Earth is an amazing place, how the living creatures respond to change, how much of what is seen on television or in videos is not truly what occurs when people travel in space. The moment when students realize that they just figured out what is really going on in the world, that ah ha moment, is what I look for every day that I teach.
