"Children are made readers on the laps of their parents" . Parents need to learn there is more to a book then words and use a story to elicit a language journey. As part of this project, parents will meet with me weekly to learn strategies to help facilitate language and reading skills. We will focus on a specific language and reading skill weekly. First the parents and I will work together with the child on these goals. Then I will send the book home with the intention of the parent reading every night to the child practicing the specified skills. The continual practice will help the student improve their language and reading skills as well as help them generalize information throughout their day.
