I plan to use the egg incubator and candler to create a project based learning experience for my students. Students will conduct a three to four week study of the life cycle of the chicken and document their data in science journals. They will use the candler to observe eggs and write their observations. This will allow the students to keep a detailed growth chart in their science journals to track their observations. Students will evaluate cause and effect relationships to determine factors affecting hatch rate of the eggs. This science project will provide a "real world" science experience for my students!
