My class will learn how to play the ukulele, and will put on a concert for proud families and friends. Students will practice in class for this. In a time when very few students are getting performing arts opportunities, I can teach every one of mine to play and sing. I can do this with all of my students, not just the ones in Honors Chorus. Even students who can't sing can shine. The students love learning to play and can't hide their excitement when it's time to practice. Music engages the right side of the brain, and offering music to students in our area fills a void that can't be filled in most of their homes. Last year we were lucky to be chosen to learn ukulele with our one-day-a-week music teacher, who borrowed ukuleles from another school. But, alas, they wanted them back! Now we want our own so students for years to come can learn to play the ukulele and shine.
