Students will use the TI-84 graphing calculator in all mathematics classes. They currently use the calculators but students need to be able to check these calculators out and take them home. When students use the calculators in class, they often have homework that requires calculator use but they are not able to do it or the teacher just does not assign it. Also, when students take the SAT, ACT and other college entrance exams, they have to ask to borrow the calculators that are included in the classroom set. This causes the classrooms to be short. We need them to be able to take the calculators home without it interfering with the quality teaching and learning in the daily classroom. The lives of these students will be better if they have access to all materials needed to complete the work that they are assigned. Because of the socioeconomic status of our county, many students are not able to afford the calculators.
