I've taught kindergarten for 23 years but I'm a newbie at teaching a split pre-k/kindergarten class. It has its own special challenges but this group is so much fun. I go home with a funny story just about every day. One day, I posted a video of a phonics lesson on my Youtube channel (the kid's faces were blurred). I told the kids about it and one boy said, "You mean we're Youtubers now Mrs. Liddiard?" My answer? "Of course, you are!" They were so psyched and couldn't wait for the next lesson, just hoping I would film it for Youtube. I must confess, I never realized the great divide that exists between pre-k and kindergarten. The biggest challenge has been meeting all my student's needs. I keep a daily journal and reflect on what works and what doesn't. I told my teaching buddy, "This may not be my easiest year, but when I'm done, I'm going to be a much better teacher because of it!"
