Sports are a powerful positive influence on our youth's lives. Nowhere is that more needed than in our urban communities, where underprivileged youth are not given the opportunities to participate in high-quality formative sports.These communities and youth are the focus of my project: the USA Future Stars Basketball Program. My vision is to keep our underprivileged youth active in competitive sports, and give them equal opportunity to a first-class experience at little/no cost. Also, we will do what no other sports team serving these youth has done: combine NBA-experienced coaching in this opportunity. Our kids will reap the benefits of athletics, team bonding, global travel. My dream is to put together a team from Hackensack and schools in neighboring communities, to give them this opportunity that otherwise would be out of reach. I would use your grant to eliminate/minimize the team and travel costs to the kids.
