Reading is a subject and skill taught daily in school. We all know that reading is fundamental, but reading should also be fun and engaging. One way to make sure reading is engaging is to implement literature circles within a classroom. In a literature circle, small groups of students get together to discuss a book based on their reading level and interest. Literature circles allow students to practice critical thinking skills and practice speaking and listening skills. It also gives students the opportunity to practice skills being taught in the classroom. However, sets of books are required to complete literature circles.
