Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. During independent work times they can choose a location in the classroom that works for them. They can go to the front of the classroom on the rug and in the bean bag chairs to work collaboratively and comfortably. Studies have shown that the ability to relax is an important prerequisite for optimal performance on the job and in the classroom. In fact, Scientific American states this clearly in the article "Want Clear Thinking? Relax". Students need to learn how to slow down and hone in on their thinking skills.

About my class
