I am requesting eight Chromebook laptops for their research and debate preparation. Laptops for my students will allow them to fact check and research the evidence behind the rhetoric of various current event issues and political campaigns. My students enjoy debating current event issues. As their debate team coach, I stress the importance of looking behind rhetoric and opinion to dig for supporting facts and credible evidence. This skill and practice will not only contribute to their debate success, but will also contribute to their role as responsible citizens, future voters and advocates for themselves and their communities. Help me prepare students to be savvy and responsible citizens, who look behind political rhetoric and news sound bites and who have the skills needed to be effective advocates for themselves and their community. I will use these laptops for research projects and debate preparation.
