Think back to your elementary school years where you spent numerous hours sitting in the same plastic chairs, year after year. What would it look like if students were given a choice of where to sit or stand to complete their work and increase their learning? My students thrive off of having choices in their learning. I would love to be able to allow my students to also have a choice in their learning environment. By providing flexible seating in my classroom, students will be able to choose areas to learn that best suit their needs. Research has shown that physical activity leads to academic success and the Hokki Stools and standing desk will enable students to move while they work, without distracting others around them. Students will be able to choose whether they would like to stand and work, sit and work, or use the Hokki stool to sit and move at the same time. This will help them better focus on their learning and maximize their academic performance. In addition, extra lamps will allow us to work in a soothing environment with the lights off, but will allow light to work without straining our eyes. With this donation, my classroom will be transformed into the perfect environment for students to truly succeed. This project will give my students the learning options that they need to be successful in the classroom.
