These tablets will have an immediate, daily impact in our classroom. My classroom library is limited in terms of books for lower level English Language Learners to find literature that both interests them and is appropriate for their reading levels in English. My students love to experience the joy of reading, but struggle to find material that is appropriate for them. Often students ask me to help them pick a book, but I would love to be able to have them open the Kindle or Nook app and pick a book for themselves. One that interests them. One that is available in their native language or English. One that they WANT to read. With these new tablets, my students will be able to continue to meet their educational goals by increasing their literacy skills. Moreover, they will have regular access to bilingual dictionaries, apps for improving their English and native language abilities, and educational videos to support their learning. They have already demonstrated a love for learning and reading, and these tablets will only help to further their skills and promote their literacy goals even more!
