I really want to focus on creating a student-centered environment where all students can be successful and comfortable. First grade is so much fun, but it is difficult for the little ones to sit all day. My students are in school for six and a half hours a day. I have students with special needs, who find it hard to sit in regular chairs. By giving them freedom to move around or have choices, I am hoping it will help them to be more focused on their learning. In my list I am requesting community tables and lots of variations of seating. I have done some research on wiggle chairs and cushions for balance and building the students core, which in turn helps with motor skills as well.
