The books that were selected for this project will hopefully allow students to escape our classroom and get lost in the stories they are reading. There were culturally diverse novels selected to provide students with opportunities to read about other individuals that look like them. In addition, students will be able to learn about other cultures through reading these diverse novels. The books selected are also at various reading levels. This is important to ensure that all students are given the opportunity to explore literature at their reading ability. Research shows that when you meet students where they are with interesting text, you will be able to get students to read and become stronger readers.
