We will use these books daily in our reader's and writer's workshops. I need lower level books for my struggling readers. I have an adequate number of books at grade level, but need more meaningful, quality books for students working below grade level. Some lower level books for students who are in the third grade make students feel like they are reading books for younger students. It can be embarrassing for these students. Many times they are not eager to settle in and get to reading because of this. I want ALL my students to develop a passion for reading. I have carefully selected books that I believe third graders would love to read! Students who are already behind need the motivation to work even harder, and that's something that new high interest, low readability books can provide! In order to become better at reading, you must spend time actually reading! Also, it can be hard to pull lessons from low readability books, so I'm asking for books that have meaningful life lessons!
