This year we will become a Project Based Learning School. I believe that this is an excellent step in the right direction for student learning. However, my level 1 students need a strong foundation in Spanish in order to find true success in the PBL process. We have not had funding to adopt a new textbook since 2003 and my students are deserving of current text and examples that are relevant to today's youth. n order to provide that for them, I have also asked for Spanish language magazines that are acceptable for level 1 students. By having both the text and the magazine, I will be able to provide them with excellent materials that will assist them in acquiring a strong foundation in the language. Those materials will aid in building vocabulary necessary to begin the process of learning to communicate effectively in order to progress to the next level of learning.
