I'm asking for primary composition journals for my students. The beauty of these journals is that it allows students to draw and write on the page. Drawing pictures aides student comprehension. Newcomers draw pictures to go along with their vocabulary words. The journals will also be used for students who continue to struggle with letter identification. The journals will be their personal reference book. First and second graders who have more language acquisition will use their journals for more difficult concepts such as learning when to capitalize words, common and proper nouns, and parts of speech. Using pictures and drawings will help solidify concepts. Games are a fun and engaging way for students to learn. These games teach different reading comprehension skills that ESOL students need to help them better understand what they're reading. The games contain topics such as Main Idea & Details, Inferencing, and Context. The students work in teams to read the passage, decide the best answer, and explain why they feel their answer is the best. The games reinforce team work, reading, and speaking English in a non-judgmental, captivating manner.
