Reading is so important in my classroom. Most of the time you have kids come to 4th grade who don't enjoy to read and my goal is to get those kids to enjoy reading. I need resources and books that allow a variety of different genres, so they can find something to read. During independent reading time they will be able to comfortably read and enjoy reading time. The magazines offer real life events that I can use to teach about what is going on in our world at a kid's level. I want reading to come to life for my students. With these resources it will. I use the Scholastic News articles in my classroom to teach students how to read nonfiction text. The articles provide kids with current events that are happening in our world. The Time for Kids would be a great way to integrate social studies and reading together. My students like using Time For Kids online, so I thought it would be a great resource for them to read and write about. The seats that are in the cart will allow my students to have a place other than their desk to read. They need to be comfortable when they read so they can enjoy reading better.
