This carpet gives each student his or her own space so that there is enough room for all students to engage in whole body learning without disrupting classmates. The clearly marked spaces give students some ownership of the spots so that they feel like there is a definite place for them to engage in learning. The colors and squares makes separating students into groups much easier and more efficient and provides more ways to color coordinate, which is something I do a lot. This rug would contribute to many different factors in the classroom and help make our routines more organized and provide students with a sense of spatial awareness.
