Many of the whole group lessons and activities in First Grade take place on the floor. Carpet activities are an essential component to my first graders' learning experience. On the carpet we learn new things in mathematics, reading, writing, and science! Carpet activities help build a strong, collaborative, and compassionate classroom ohana. A carpet with clearly delineated seating areas will help my first graders know where to sit so they can best focus on the lessons and activities. We can focus our attention on the learning at hand and continue to build a caring classroom community. This learning carpet will have a lasting impact throughout the school year and many years to follow!
