My classroom is not full of basketballs, paint brushes or a tenor sax but I strive to make my English class a place that my students look forward to coming to as much as they enjoy their electives. My goal is to solicit donations to purchase four sets of books. One set has already been picked up by a local business so I am moving on to book set number two, Chinese Cinderella. I plan to use these books to light a spark within my students. They need to experience the thinking process that goes into breaking a text down and examining its literature elements. I want them to make connections to the text and justify their thought process in their answers to questions or posed statements. I'm looking for these books to be a bridge between real life issues they are experiencing and give them a way to vocalize questions and solutions.
