My classroom allows students to be the boss of their reading and select books they are interested in at their own level rather than just being handed a book. The students know the level they read at and once a week they get to go "shop" for books at their level. We are not supplied level books in our classroom, just a one program fits all. Over the year I have purchased hundreds of books on my own to create a library and I am trying to add to this library so the students have access to the amount of books they need when they go shopping. Ideally, they can get 10 to 12 and work on their reading skills.
