Students are given the opportunity to manipulate parts of a math problem with their hands (kinesthetic learning) using the Geoboards thus understanding how changing one part of a situation affects the rest of it. On a small level, this has a huge impact on life. All people need to think about how one small action can change the world (both good and bad.) I will be bringing this globalization topic to the math classroom with these boards. Geoboards are a useful hands-on and visual tool of math learning specifically in Algebra and Geometry classes. Geometry and Algebra are closely related fields of math. These two disciplines of math are the initial 2 classes for higher math and are therefore, foundational. Many students struggle to understand one or both of these topics. Through the use of Geoboards, I am hoping students will get a firm grasp of both subjects and maybe inspire them to continue to study Math.
