My school is piloting customized learning. This year we are allowing the students to pick electives. These electives are called Student Interest Groups. As one of my student interest groups, I will be doing a coding class for Kindergarten and First grade students. As we move into teaching children how technology can enhance their learning, it's important for them to understand how the language of a computer works. The students will use the Code and Go Robot mouse activity kits to further their understanding of coding, and to build their very own maze with all the skills they have learned throughout the class. The students will have a chance to learn coding and puzzle solving through using the programmable mouse to build codes that allows the mouse to move through a course. These will give the students a chance to use their skills they have learned in a hands-on activity. Coding will help the students with critical thinking, logic, persistence, and creativity which will help them in all subject areas.
