My book requests represent a wide range of genres, reading levels, and topics. My students are diverse in so many ways and I hope to match each of them to books that hook them. Once students have books in their hands that they connect to, they won't want to put books down. Building a reading life is a central goal in my classroom. We have book talks every day and time for independent reading. While students read, I meet with a few each day to discuss their reading. We set weekly reading goals and reflect on our reading lives every quarter. In order for this environment to prosper and sustain, my students need access to a variety of books.
