By allowing access to technology, the students will be able to more effectively compete in today's ever changing world. With the access to more computer technology within the classroom, my students will be able to design projects, obtain information through research, and practice the typing skills necessary to complete an essay on the computer versus pen and paper. At this time in my classroom, I have one working computer which also serves as the teacher computer. Society is so immersed in technology today that for a student to not have access is crippling. Georgia is expecting students to complete standardized testing on computers within the next couple of years; however, all students are not given proper access to the technology necessary to develop their skills. It is not that they are not capable, but it is rather that they are not trained and given ample opportunity to fine tune their skills. I plan to use the computers to teach the students how to firstly navigate a computer. They will then be taught how to create and design projects on the computer along with researching information for Social Studies and Science Projects. I plan to have the students create classroom newsletters and newspapers. The students will also be allowed to work on the computers during small group time. At these allotted times, the students' computer time will be differentiated in order to meet the various needs of the students as it relates to math.
