My students need Canvases, a Dreamcatcher Pack, and many colors of paint so that they we can continue Empowering Students Through Art. My students are proud members of the Sicangu Oyate Lakota. We live on the Rosebud Indian Reservation. Because we are a BIE funded school, we receive almost half the amount of that of a public school. My students need these supplies so that I can continue to teach them about their culture by Empowering Students Through Art. Our kids often do not have access to the kinds of supplies that are prevalent in more affluent areas. My students get to my classes not knowing how to make some of the basic Lakota Arts. This project will allow them to practice art and learn about their culture. My students often, do not have access to the kinds of technology that are prevalent in more other areas. I want to empower them to be proud Lakota boys and girls by empowering them through art. The requested art supplies and paints will enable my students to create dream catchers, murals, and self identify with art. These are all basic supplies that my students needs in order to enable them a chance to understand who they are.
