Our fourth grade room is filled lots of movement, fun and active learning! I like to incorporate hands on activities such as Interactive Read Alouds, math games, and hopefully soon STEM buckets! We use the Daily 5 and Daily 3 structure for ELA and math. Students move through Word Work, Read to Self, Read to Someone, Listen to Reading, and Work on Writing each day. Along with a guided reading group two to three times per week. During math, they move through Math by Myself, Math with Someone, and Math Writing. Our room has a lot of flexible seating; from a comfy library (thanks to Donor's Choose!) to rocking chairs, to yoga mats and working trays on the floor. I allow my students to work wherever they wish! We are also a D4 room, which means 50% of work is done online through Canvas and 50% is done on paper. Our new goal is to add a STEM time for students to be creative and build critical thinking skills.
