Providing my students with individual TIME for Kids magazine subscriptions will allow my students to take the strategies we are currently working on in reading across content areas. Many of my students are not familiar with current events and have little knowledge of things going on outside of their everyday lives. Through reading and social studies activities, I hope to expand their knowledge of the world and open their minds up to the endless possibilities that await them. In addition, it gives them the opportunity to expand their comprehension of fictional texts. By providing them with enriching, educational experiences and materials I hope to continue to help them make progress to reach their individual academic goals. As a child, I remember the highlight of my week being the newest edition of TIME being passed out! I would love for my students to have the same experience. For under-privileged students having something to call their own is often not an option. Receiving their own magazine weekly that would also build their comprehension and world knowledge is a bonus!
