As the technology integration specialist of a middle school with a population of over 82% economically disadvantaged, I know that the single most significant benefit that technology can provide to my students is an "even playing field". Having state-of-the-art technology in our classrooms affords my students the opportunity to prepare for a successful future. My students look forward to using technology in their classrooms. Implementing a project where the students use technology to "travel" to places most of them will never see, using technology to which most do not have access at home, is a very motivating factor and has a positive effect on attendance.
