Being in a lower income district our students do not have the resources available to buy their own headphones. Currently my classes (6 classes of 18-23 students each class) listen to videos or video chat without headphones. Imagine the chaos of trying to speak and listen in a foreign language while a large majority of the students are trying to do the same thing. Twenty videos playing at the same time, at different speeds and levels is both chaotic and frustrating to my students. Talk about bringing the classroom beyond these four walls - these headphones will connect us to the outside world! With these headphones/microphones my students would be able to listen at their own pace without the stress of hearing their neighbor's video at the same time. With the microphones they would be able to participate in REAL conversations with a buddy and also record themselves speaking in order to have self-reflection and practice!
