Have you ever sat in one of those hard student chairs for twenty minutes or more?! I can personally tell you that from experience, it is not comfortable. Who wants to read in an uncomfortable position? My students need bean bag chairs to create a comfortable environment in which to read books, in the hopes of inspiring their reading engagement. My students struggle very much with staying on task during their independent reading block and don't really have a passion to read. I feel that the first step in building passionate readers is in creating a comfortable environment. With your help, I can supply an area where students can sit comfortably and enjoy a book of their choice, where they can get immersed in a new world without ever leaving the classroom. Your generous donations will help these fifth grade students, from improving their vocabulary to increasing their comprehension, but most importantly, you will have helped create future book lovers!
