I am a teaching librarian in a public elementary school. This book set would be used with students in grades 3rd through 6th. Farley elementary currently has 5 classes of 3rd grade, 4 classes of 4th grade, 4 classes of 5th grade, and 3 classes of 6th grade. There are expected to be 4 classes of 6th grade next year. I recently gave the students in grades 1 - 6 a chance to sign up for a book discussion group in the library during their lunch time. I had students that were so excited to read and discuss the books! It was a wonderful event in the library! All five of the lunch book discussion groups asked me to continue to host the events next year. I was so excited to see their enthusiasm for reading and discussing the text! The most exciting part, 1st grade students opened their books and referred to the text as support for their ideas with out being told! I would love to be able to expand this experience to more than once a year.
