Having these laptops will make a difference in my students' learning and improve their school lives. The laptops will provide access for students to learn basic keyboarding and word processing skills, they will allow my students to meet grade-level standards, and will allow them to learn proper digital citizenship behavior. The consistent use of technology in the classroom will prepare our students in becoming successful, life-long learners for the 21st century. First of all, with the laptops, my students will be able to have consistent access to type up their final writing assignments to display. In addition, they will be able to use online typing programs to practice their keyboarding skills on a weekly basis. By having access to consistent keyboarding practice, students will be more successful in the SBAC tests they are required to take each year. Secondly, my students will be able to meet grade level standards of using a variety of online media to produce multimedia presentations. My students will finally be able to create a PowerPoint to show their knowledge for the American Revolution! Also, students will be able to use the laptops to research primary sources from history in order to have a better understanding of our nation. Equal access to technology will improve my students learning, as well as, overall behavior because they will be more engaged in their learning. Students love technology and want to learn more about it! Being able to have these laptops will benefit our students by providing them with a better opportunity to become successfully literate in the online world. Without the resources at home for these students, it is my job as their teacher to show them what good digital citizenship is and how technology can serve them for a successful future.
