Imagine working in a place where you struggled to effectively communicate with your boss and co-workers. You don't always understand what is being asked of you, or you may not be able to think of the right words to say; sometimes you may have all the words, but you sound different when you speak so you choose not to. This is what my students go through every day. As a speech-language pathologist, I help my students meet their communication goals in order to make their wants, needs, and knowledge known to their teachers and peers. Students on my caseload have a large variety of goals targeting articulation of speech sounds, using AAC (augmentative/alternative communication), language (meaning of words, word/sentence order and structure, functional social interactions), fluency (i.e., stuttering), voice, or hearing.
