It might seem odd that a teacher would ask for a carpet as a big wish, let alone 2. Would it be surprising to find out that the children in this classroom probably spend more time on those carpets than at their tables? I hope not, but it might be. In this kindergarten classroom, we spend a good amount of our day on the floor! We say good morning to each other and make each other feel welcome on the floor. We play on the floor. We listen to stories on the floor, and sometimes we even draw and write on the floor. So, when creating a classroom that feels warm and welcoming, you might say I think about the floor more than other areas of the room!
