My second grade students are young men and young ladies who live in the "most dangerous" city in the US as well as being labeled one of the "highest poverty rates". They struggle daily in many ways to make it to school but once they arrive they are ready to go. They come to school to learn. They have plans for college and to reach those goals we push every day to overcome the struggles they face.
