I want a fun, yet engaging way for my students to learn the alphabet, letter sounds and words. These supplies are needed for them to be successful and learn to read. One of our grade level goals is to exit Kindergarten knowing all our letters, sounds, and sight words and reading 15 words per minute. The supplies I picked for this grant can be used in many ways: They will help my students to learn their letters using letter tiles, letter stamps, and ink pads to identify letters and sounds, to create syllables, and to make words they can read. My students will be able to use the letter tiles to help them build words in our reading groups. This will give them a chance to touch the letters and move them around easily, seeing how words change when letters are in different positions. Students will be able to use the letter stamps and ink pads in small group centers, where they can play games to match letters to sounds, sound out words to match pictures, and practice building sight words in fun ways.
