Many students dread coming to Algebra class. When they walk into a class that doesn't look like the "typical" math class, they get sense of calm and comfort. A comfortable learning environment is much more productive than a standard classroom of desks in rows. My students will be able to choose whether to sit at the patio furniture set to collaborate, the bar table set to talk with a small group, or the adirondack chair to work individually. Students can sit in the location that they can be most productive all while being comfortable. Students love a choice and these flexible seating options combined with the bean bag, mushroom chair, and stools that are already in place will allow students to take charge of their learning. They will be able to choose their seat based off where they feel that they will be most productive in their learning.
