My 4th grade students are amazing. They push themselves, and push me, to be better every day. They are eager to learn and to give. They are kind and respectful. They are as unique as the school they attend. This school is unlike any other I've ever been to. Love is said and encouraged among students and their teachers. Hugs and high fives are given on the daily from teachers and administration. There is a focus on not only helping the students, but also helping their families. As teachers, we are asked to make home visits so that families and students know that they are our priority. The students in my class have many struggles and obstacles to overcome, such as the absence of a parent, immigration issues, poverty, and unfortunately other traumas. However these kids are resilient, strong and driven. It is my job to get give them the tools they need to focus, to learn and to succeed.
